Increasing visitors suggestion

Bit of a suggestion, if you really want to grow fast try to get the website listed in dmoz.org directory. You will notice a huge increase in visitors if your site is listed there.

I have a car forum that I've run since 2005, before my site was listed there I wasn't getting many people coming to the site, after listing though I was basically on top of all related search results in google and the visitors kept coming in more and more each day. At the moment I have around 600 unique visitors daily from all over the world, at its peak a year ago that was close to 1200.

When you suggest the site on there though, make sure it is a category where there is an editor assigned, otherwise it can take years for it to get processed.

It's the best way to get the word out about any website, hopefully you guys can find a suitable category with an editor and get included.

Hey virtual-r, yeah i have tried those guys a couple of times, but no go. It's not easy, considering there are thousands of stations but only a handful are listed. We're in the Yahoo directory and some others, but dmoz it seems is a lot more picky.

Yeah I was lucky to get my main site in there, I have had no luck getting any of the others in though. They are a lot stricter now than they used to be, think that's why the number of editors has dropped also, too much work for them to do as a volunteer.

try using a alternate gateway maybe? like a redirection through another website... worked for mine to get additional hits...

Wow this is an old one. We've come a fair way since then. Having really looked into redirecting websites...I guess one website itself is more than a handful
