Facebook privacy and Hotmail contacts

So, I rarely use the thing - that's besides the point though - but I've started to notice Hotmail contacts appearing in the "People You May Know" / "Suggestions" part of Facebook.

I never gave Facebook the password to my Hotmail, so how did they get access to these contacts?

Anyone else seeing this too?

Yeah it's all rather disturbing, and is the reason why I don't bother using it much, letting alone sharing real personal stuff like many people do. Their privacy policies go up and down more than a $2 hooker.

This doesn't happen because of your personal contact list, It's due to you being on the other peoples msn list. The other people will allow facebook to access their messenger / hotmail contacts, and when you appear in them, it notifies you that facebook has recognised you through that person and asks if you want to connect to them. It's a fairly simple script that works quite well, but I also find that people you have blocked can sometimes come up in a email / messenger search, facebook doesn't always recognise such a person is blocked and trys to link you to them, which can be quite annoying as you can imagine.

Ahh well that makes sense now, thanks for that. I still don't trust their Privacy policy though, so I won't be adding any more info than what I have now. Cheers.
