aacPlus v2 (HE-AAC) is what you're listening to when you tune in to the ClubbersRadio aacPlus stream.
It is a compressed audio format, just like the popular mp3, but provides better
reproduction quality at low bitrates, such as our low 40kbps bitrate. Because aacPlus
is a newer audio format, its compatibility with audio players may still be limited, but its
support is slowly growing.
Winamp player has supported this format since 2004
(and mp3 since the player's first release in 1997). Since April 2006, aacPlus has also
become compatible with Windows Media Player thanks to the Orban aacPlus Plugin.
And since September 2009, aacPlus has become compatible with iTunes.
The 40kbps aacPlus stream:
- Can be used on Dial-up or DSL/Broadband
- Uses approx. 17.5 Mbytes/hour, or 1 GB over 58 hours
UPDATE for iTunes users: aacPlus streams FINALLY work with iTunes. You
must have version 9 or newer of iTunes installed for this to work.
Non-Windows users: Skip to the bottom of this page for the link to VLC
Player. It works on virtually any Operating System including Mac OS X and Linux.

WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER
The current version of Windows Media Player (also known as WMP) does not play aacPlus
files or streams by default. In April 2006, "Orban" released a plugin called "Orban/Coding
Technologies AAC/aacPlus Player Plugin" for WMP. This is a one off install that allows WMP
to decode and play aacPlus streams, as well as some other formats. The following steps
explain how get ClubbersRadio on your WMP.
- If not already on your computer, get WMP from the Microsoft site.
- The free-codecs.com website has a link to the plugin.
- Open and follow the steps to install the plugin. You only need to install this once.
- To open the ClubbersRadio stream, download/open our ".asx" playlist file for WMP. Or alternatively,
- Open WMP, then press and hold {Control} {U} for the "Open URL" dialog box.
- Enter the address
http://www.clubbersradio.com/listen.asx and click OK to start the stream.

WEBSITE PLAYER (INTERNET EXPLORER ONLY)
ClubbersRadio has its own popup Website Player that can be used while still browsing the net.
Much like Windows Media Player, this requries a one off install of an ActiveX application
called AmpX. Internet Explorer is an ActiveX-supported browser that supports this.
JavaScript must also be enabled. The following steps will get this working.
- Open the Website Player. If AmpX is already installed, the stream should begin automatically.
- For first time installs, a notice will appear: AmpX
- Click "Install ActiveX Control..." and another box may appear confirming you want to install this application.
- Once installed, streaming should then start automatically. If it doesn't, close and reopen the website player.

other Operating System.
